You HAVE to stand your ground!

I was in Publix yesterday, did my grocery shopping, saved $27.14 just in coupons. My total cost for groceries was $57.72, and that is including postage stamps, detergent, meat, cereal, and a big bag of charcoal. The deals I found included a Publix coupon- Buy a 100 oz. Purex detergent, get a 40 oz. fabric softener free. I also found a $.35 off Purex detergent, and a $.55 off Purex softener to go along with that. So I paid $3.85 for both the detergent and the softener. Another great deal I found was a $6.00 off coupon for an 18 lb. bag of charcoal when you buy one other participating brands. Vlasic pickles are bogo free right now, and I had 2 $1 off coupons from Target, along with a $3 food lion coupon for charcoal.
It was such a great deal, a few minutes later I decided to go back. I couldn't wait because the Target coupons expired that day so I wanted to take advantage (and who doesn't like pickles?!).
So I went back to Publix. However, just my luck I came across a cashier that actually took the time to argue with me that she could not accept 2 manufacturer coupons for the charcoal (the food lion coupon said manu on the top, but it's still competitor). So I had to get a manager involved, and had to bare the eye rolls and dirty looks, and the people behind me putting their stuff back in their cart and choosing another line. All in all, was it worth it?
COMPLETELY. I got an 18 lb. bag of charcoal and 2 jars of Vlasic pickles for $1.88 including tax.
Moral of my blog today: You have to stand your ground, be bold, and only be focused on what is going on between you and the cashier. Have no apologies for your frugalness and do not be afraid to speak up.

  1. LOL First off I am laughing at your post about Publix and standing your ground! :) I get free coupons from a family member sometimes and I will give some to people standing behind me if the cashier argues with me and I have to get a manager :).

Ok to get the sites on the left copy and paste the sites link for example Southernsavers.com she has a icon link on the side of her page. (or at least it was there prior to the site move)

Then click on your work on blog thing and find add a gadget then choose the add HTML/ java script and then paste the html code that you copied from southernsavers.com and save. That will post the link!
